Eastern Europe covers an area of approximately 2.2 million miles spread across 20 individual countries.
Most states in the region once belonged to a larger ‘Soviet Bloc’ cluster before their gradual and prolonged break up following World War II. Many countries in turn joined the EU, Eurozone and the Customs Union which in turn has opened the area up to massive investment from other EU Traders.
Trade between Ireland and the former Eastern Bloc States is growing year on year and is currently at an all time high.
Low operating costs, cheap raw materials, foreign direct investment and proximity to the rest of Europe has seen the region become the new manufacturing power house of Europe, successfully competing with and in some cases replacing staple Chinese imports.
We like to say that this is an area we are passionate about and devote ourselves to working very closely with a number of specialist transport agents across the region, helping us navigate the various remaining customs and fiscal rules that countries like Russia still implement.
